Background: Francesca Young was born and raised in Florence, Italy, on an American military base. In 2005, her family planned to move back to America, however, her plane was hit by the solar flare of the 2005 Explosion, throwing her and several other passengers, including her father, out over the sea. Luckily for Francesca, the stress-activated her meta-gene and gave her the ability to fly, allowing her to survive the violent crash in the water. Hours later, a rescue crew arrived to find her floating in the waters, the only survivor of the flight. She was brought to her mother and younger brother, who had flown the day prior, however, the body of her father remained lost at sea. Distraught at the loss of their father, but thankful for the survival of Francesca, the family would slowly rebuild their lives in the city of Boston. As time passed, Francesca kept her powers a secret until Brainiac attacked in 2007, forcing her to use her abilities to save her family. The shock of learning her daughter had powers prompted her to contact Patricia Nightly, head of the division she works for known as First Defense. Owing a debt to her father, Nightly would take the girl and train her to use her abilities under the guise of mentorship, all the while grooming her to become a soldier for her own war. In 2008, Francesca would be recruited onto Nightly’s new task force under the codename Stratos, to Supreme Justice, a team whose main goal was to stop the Justice Teens should they ever get out of Nightly’s control. Together, the team would undergo several missions in the middle east, most being reconnaissance, search and destroy, or kidnapping an enemy target. The team would have their first interaction with the Justice Teens while attempting to arrest Maximus Zero a year after his appearance, and several more after. Stratos would eventually join the Justice Teens of America after a battle with Maximum Zero on the U.S.S. Dakota killed a handful of her team.

 

Personality: Stratos is an “army brat”. Raised in a military environment, her morals and ideals are based on loyalty, hard work, and dedication. She’s often stern and can be viewed as hardheaded when it comes to a mission. Her powers usually isolate her from the team and place her in her own battles with aerial threats. Just like her father, she follows her orders and respects the chain of command. When off duty, Stratos usually spends her time paling around with some of the team, often acting as the most level-headed and mature among them. She’s incredibly passionate about the well-being of others and is not afraid to fight tooth and nail to keep everyone in her team and civilians safe.

Character Summary: Good soldiers follow orders, but a good person knows when to say no. To Stratos, joining the Justice Teens wasn't an act of mutiny or defiance toward her duties as a soldier, and to her country, joining was the only way that she truly could protect the people the way she wishes she could have protected her father.

 

Appearance: Stratos wears a full body, red and white skin-tight suit to reduce friction while flying. Her cowl has an opening in the back to let her hair out. Her arms, going sides, cowl, and her legs, are red, leaving the rest of her suit white. Her suit is lightly armored, protecting her torso, knees, elbows, shoulders, shins, and head. Whenever she’s in flight, both hands are ahead of her with her fingers pointed outward. When standing, she is straight with her legs locked and arms behind her hands.
